**Jake Gyllenhaal:** Suffering, Tom? Authenticity? Sounds like a lot of noise for something pretty straightforward. *Nightcrawler* - I went emaciated, yeah? But more than that, I captured something real, the insatiable hunger driving that creep. It’s about embodying the character’s internal world. You go external, beef up, mumble. It's a *performance,* Tom. Mine dives into the character's soul. You seem to stop on the flesh. The point of a performance is more than just commitment, It's the subtlety of your work that should leave your work remembered

**Tom Hardy:** Soul, Jake? Soul's what ya drag outta yourself through the physical, mate. Yeah, *Nightcrawler* was thin, impressive enough but a facade. *Warrior,* mate, I'd been back fighting when no-one would give me work to be the soldier for your soul, your brothers soul to prove yourself I needed too and my life did change that day. Me and Joel both wanted to feel the pressure in the role not fake or have someone else do it. Pain becomes you then authenticity arrives. When was the last time someone else wanted your pain for your brother brother! Authentic brother... That ain't suffering it.

**Jake Gyllenhaal:** You equate physical discomfort with some spiritual awakening? Please. Artistry is not synonymous with self-flagellation. *Prisoners*, I lost myself in despair. Remember, Hugh Jackman even stated he wasn’t really acting there were days that they had real concern about my presence with it being a natural occurrence due to the situation, I lived with that despair weeks and the affect of that still plays on my life today... True investment means losing a part of yourself in the process, not just reshaping the exterior, now, who gives an award for losing themself when that is life!

**Tom Hardy:** Hugh Jackman? *Prisoners?* He would say you seemed down he wouldn’t understand suffering... you need to seek a new acting coach man he’s pulling the wool over your eyes there! Mate, lost? Everyone loses parts of themselves. Becoming someone *else entirely*, That’s the real bleedin' challenge. I can become *anyone*, even *you*, for a bloody role, without losing bits of me. Method acting with the affect of life to continue through it... that's method and nothing less but that of madness. Not so the losing of life! I still reckon.

**Jake Gyllenhaal:** "Becoming" me? Flattering, Hardy, but you lack the vulnerability. You trade in ferocity, I find truth. You see a mask, I seek connection. Sure you can morph your exterior, the challenge to become a living thing from scratch... You go on becoming me, even as "The best modern actor, Jake!" Jake’s here mate to find, capture and convey the raw core that you ignore with the braw. Do you consider vulnerability for the act because now or you will never learn and just punch everyone into place and role.

**Round 7**

**Tom Hardy:** Vulnerability! You ever been close enough to a bleedin' pit bull to tell if it’s feelin’ vulnerable before it rips your throat out? Vulnerability hides beneath the fangs, Jake. I can bleed a bloody rose in the eye of the beast. Real vulnerability ain't somethin' you broadcast, it’s what makes the punches hit home harder when they do and bleed to nothing else in between it . The audience isn’t buying into the idea and now becoming truth but with some, they are so blinded and fooled that there reality falls short with any reality in our world that just feels and is without the act!
